Syria gas attack
A gas attack in Douma, a rebel-held town in Eastern Ghouta, has left 70 people dead. The news of the deaths came from volunteer rescue group the White Helmets, who tweeted horrific images showing bodies lying in a basement. Syria has denied the allegations of the attack and has labelled them a “blatant attempt to hinder the army’s advance”. Although there has been no verification of the reports, the USA state department continues to monitor the situation. They also stated that if it is uncovered that chemical weapons were used, Russia – who is fighting alongside the Syrian government – will be held accountable for their actions.
