Jacob Zuma has his court debut
South African ex-president Jacob Zuma has been charged with corruption linked to a 1990s arms deal. Zuma’s appearance lasted no more than 15 minutes. The trial is taking place in the city of Durban’s high court. He faces charges of money laundering, racketeering, fraud and corruption. These charges were reinstated after Zuma’s ninth vote of confidence, shortly after he was forced out of office, and his grip on the African National Congress weakened. Many of his supporters rallied around the courthouse in support of the former president. However, shortly after Zuma’s short appearance in court, the case was adjourned till the 8th of June.
