Cryptocurrency demanded in Chihuahua kidnapping ransom
Thania Denisse Medina, 33, was taken by armed men as she was leaving her office in downtown Chihuahua, Mexico. Her captors demanded an undisclosed bitcoin amount, which her relatives paid. This is the first time bitcoin has been demanded as ransom in Mexico. Police didn’t wait for Medina’s release, and thanks to the anti-crime and cybercrime units, Medina and her five kidnappers were located on Friday. The groups leader has been identified as Germán Abraham Loera Acosta, a 23 year old motivational speaker with a growing Youtube audience for his channel, GermanLoeraMX.
