Canada takes team figure skating gold
The Canadian team finished 7 points ahead of the closest competitor, Russia, to take home Canada’s first gold of this winter olympics. The team competed in 3 events; Women’s Free skate, Men’s Free skate and the ice dance. Gabrielle Dalemans performance guaranteed Canada gold as her whopping score of 137.14 added 8 points to Canada’s cumulative score, leaving Russia and the United States trailing behind. Ice dancers Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir were unstoppable, confirming the nations top spot with a beautiful performance and score of 118.10 bringing the Canadians total score to 73, well ahead of the competition.
