Taiwan Endures Over 200 Aftershocks Following Earthquake

After a 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Taiwan’s coastal city of Hualien on February 1st, over 200 strong aftershocks have occurred. One of the aftershocks had a magnitude of 5.7, and others have almost matched the magnitude of the first earthquake. Officials estimate that 9 people have died and that at least 62 are missing. The aftershocks have affected and delayed rescue efforts.
