Industrial workers in south-western Germany won the right to reduced working hours that could benefit millions of employees. The deal was negotiated with representatives from 700 companies in southwest Germany. Due to this negotiation, workers will be able to reduce their weekly hours from 35 to 28 up to two years, before returning to the standard 35- hour week. Moreover, the employees will be given a 4.3% pay rise from April. IG Metall explained that the flexibility would help employees to spend more time with the children and relatives.
