NASA Removes first African-American Astronaut from ISS Mission
Dr.Jeanette Epps would have been the first African-American astronaut to be part of the space station crew but has been withdrawn from the mission. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has not given a reason for removing Epps, and has replaced her with Dr. Serena Auñón-Chancellor. NASA has stated that Epps will “return to Nasa’s Johnson Space Center in Houston to assume duties in the Astronaut Office”. 536 men have reached the Earth’s orbit, while only 40 women have gone into space.
