A food aid distribution market in the Moroccan town of Sidi Boulaalam was destroyed by a stampede of hundreds of people. The annual food aid distribution market was handing out flour, which in light of drought has become scarce. The combination of a larger than expected crowd and a high-demand food source resulted in chaos. Reports claim that at least 40 people were injured and 15 have died following the incident. Those who were injured were mostly women and the elderly.
