Ashley Szar is a wonderful new teacher at DAA. She is from the Hill Country of Texas and has been living there until she got the opportunity to come back. To find out more about our new science teacher The Pawprint sat down with her to learn more about what led her to coming to DAA.
Q: Why did you want to become a teacher?
A: I really love science and I love kids, and my passion is learning new things and I personally like school
Q: So how do you like Dubai?
A: I love Dubai – I previously lived here for 6 years. So I was very excited about the opportunity to come back.
Q: What do you like about Dubai?
A: The people, all the diversity, and getting to learn new things about different cultures
Q: So what is the craziest teaching experience you have ever had?
A: I don’t have anything that stands out… Well, maybe not the craziest, but the most fun things were the pep rallies at my old school. This one time a man came to the pep rally and twisted a metal bar, and split a sprite can in half like right over my head. So I guess it was just the pep rallies that were fun.
Q: What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A: I like to run, workout, and spend time with my family.
Q: Do you have any children?
A: Yes I do and they are in grades seven and eight.
Q: Could you name a few of your likes and dislikes?
A: Sure, I like cake… and more cake, I like running, I love to read. I do not like cooking, and I don’t have a lot of dislikes. Unkind people maybe, I don’t enjoy when people aren’t kind
Q: So were you teaching when you lived in Dubai previously?
A: I actually wasn’t teaching. I was working as a manager for a logistics company.
Q: So why did you want to teach at DAA?
A: Well it has an excellent reputation, I knew from when I lived here before about what a great school it is, and it had a reputation of having not only excellent academics, but students as well. So I was excited to have the opportunity to work with such a great group of young people.
Ms. Szar is an amazing teacher and DAA can wait to have her be a part of our family.
